Forte Monte Tesoro, built on the top of a mountain, is one of the most significant examples of Italian fortifications of the early 20th century. From its position, visitors can enjoy views stretching from the Lessini Mountains to the Po Valley.
After serving as a NATO base, the fortress has been restored and today hosts the renovated powder magazine, making it a venue open to cultural initiatives and events for the entire Lessinia area.
The fortified complex includes two barracks, a cave powder magazine connected to the fortress by a tunnel, and the main structure on the summit. Its historical and architectural interest ranges from its typological layout to the construction materials, all set in a landscape of great environmental value.
Forte Monte Tesoro is part of the Network of Fortified Sites which, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days 2025, promotes the national initiative “Open Fortresses”, involving about ten fortified sites across Italy.
