The Forte Albertino of Vinadio is one of the most significant examples of military architecture in the entire Alpine arc. Commissioned by King Charles Albert, construction began in 1834 and ended in 1847, with a short break between 1837 and 1839. At times, up to 4,000 workers were involved, completing in eleven years a true masterpiece of military engineering and technique.

As part of the European Heritage Days 2025, in the Garden of Porta Neraissa, the book presentation “The Sphere Cannons of Forte di Vinadio and the Armored Artillery of the late 19th century” will be held by the author Massimo Robotti.

The event is part of the national initiative “Open Fortresses”, promoted by the Network of Fortified Sites, involving about ten fortified sites throughout Italy.
